Academy Improvement Plan & Annual Reports
Annual Directors' Report
Chair’s Statement to the Board Meeting of the Blessed Edward Bamber Catholic Multi Academy Trust.
Over the past 12 months we have continued to monitor improvements in each Academy through our Standards and Quality Assurance sub-committees.
I am pleased to report that since my last Annual Report, Christ the King Catholic Academy has undergone a Denominational (Section 48) Inspection and was judged to be an Outstanding Catholic Academy. The inspectors found that The Catholic Life of the school is outstanding and the commitment from the directors, executive headteacher, staff, parish clergy and laity to support pupils in their prayer life and to help form growth in faith is a priority. Staff set good examples, support each other, are proud of their school and work well together.
St. Cuthbert’s Catholic Academy has also shown a continued and sustained improvement in the number of pupils achieving a Good Level of Development in the Early Years Foundation Stage. The key Stage 2 SAT results in Reading and Maths were well above average and Writing and RWM for 2019 were at national average.

St. Marys GCSE results were down slightly down on last years record breaking results but are still around national average.
In summary, all our Academies are still rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted we continue to make excellent progress in our Primary Academies and St. Mary’s Catholic Academy.
Directors continue to monitor the Trusts finances to ensure that the Trust can continue to maintain the staffing establishment across the Academies. This is becoming increasingly difficult due to financial constraints but our financial strategy for the next 3 years maintains a balanced budget.
As our CEO, Stephen Tierney is about to retire, we thank him for all his work and the achievements he has made in his role of Headteacher of St. Mary’s and in his time as CEO of the Trust.
We have appointed Helen O’Neill as our new CEO of the trust and Helen will take up the post next February.
