There’s always something fun happening on the Fylde Coast to keep you entertained, and many events are free to attend. From the Blackpool World Fireworks Championships and Air Show to the iconic Illuminations and Strictly Come Dancing at Blackpool Tower Ballroom, there’s no shortage of excitement. Other popular events include Fleetwood Tram Sunday, The Great Eccleston Agricultural Show, Poulton Gala, St Annes International Kite Festival, Lytham Club Day, and Lytham Festival.
Beyond events, there are plenty of attractions to visit in Blackpool, such as the Winter Gardens, Blackpool Zoo, The Grand Theatre, The Grundy Art Gallery, The Sealife Centre, Madame Tussauds Waxworks, and of course, Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The Fylde Coast also has miles of beautiful sandy beaches, and the scenic Lake District National Park and Forest of Bowland AONB are within easy reach. Blackpool FC, Fleetwood FC, and AFC Fylde are the three main football teams in the area. The world-renowned Royal Lytham & St Anne’s Golf Club is just one of the many excellent golf courses available. From Fun Runs to Marathons, the Fylde’s stunning promenades and beaches provide the perfect setting for outdoor sports and fitness activities.
For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, Stanley Park in Blackpool is a must-visit, with an athletics track, boating lake, and stunning gardens to explore. The area also offers picturesque walking routes along the river Wyre, Lancaster Canal, and the nearby Bowland Forest and Lake District
The Fylde peninsula is easily accessible via the M55, which connects to the M6 at junction 32, making commuting from surrounding areas a breeze. The main line train services from Preston provide extensive coverage of the Fylde Coast, with stops in Blackpool, Poulton, Kirkham, Lytham, St Anne’s, and other locations.
Blackpool Transport offers local bus services throughout the Fylde, and the historic tramway provides a unique travel experience along the seafront, extending from Blackpool South to Fleetwood. Moreover, the tramway is undergoing expansion into the Blackpool town center, providing an even more convenient mode of transportation.
