Return to School: September 2020
As you know, the government has announced the very good news that all schools will be re-opening in full from September.
We have now received the full government guidance about how this will work and we are currently finalising our plans for how we will fully open across the Trust. At all times, the safety, health and well-being of pupils and staff will be of the greatest importance and we will ensure that everything needed is put in place over the summer. Our provision for children of critical workers and others currently attending school will not continue through the summer holidays to allow us to get the academies ready to welcome everyone back in September.
Our aim is that the academies will run as normally as possible within the guidance and we will let you know before the start of term with specific details of how this will work. We will also confirm arrangements for the beginning of term.
We look forward to welcoming back all our pupils when term begins - we have missed you! In the meantime, please continue to ensure that your child carries on with their online learning and that they attend school when required until the end of term.
With best wishes for a peaceful and restful summer holiday,
Mrs Helen O'Neill
Update 27th May 2020 - Temporary School Closure
As a precaution, we are closing Christ the King Academy and St. Mary’s Catholic Academy sites for all
staff and pupils for the next 48 hours. We have taken this decision as a very small number of the
Academy community have recently tested positive for Covid-19.
We are currently working closely with Public Health England to determine our next steps. We have
taken this precautionary decision to temporarily close while we undertake detailed risk assessments.
We are also taking the opportunity to clean all sites thoroughly. We do not wish to expose any pupils
or staff to additional risk whilst we are undertaking these steps.
Any staff or pupils directly affected have been contacted already by senior staff.
Thank you for your understanding and support. We appreciate your concerns and are working hard
to address these as soon as possible.
If you are concerned about your child’s health, in the meantime, please contact 111.
Update 10th May 2020
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement at 7pm this evening, we would like to clarify how this affects your child.
From tomorrow, there are no changes to the pupils who can attend school – these are the children of critical workers (as outlined in government documentation which can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision). We also provide care for vulnerable pupils who staff at school have already been in contact with from the start of the partial closure.
Unless you have previously agreed a place in school, please do not attend tomorrow.
We are working hard to see how we can safely get some Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils in from June 1st. We are also planning how Year 10 and Year 12 may see staff before the summer. Again, more clarity from the government is needed as it is essential that we do this in a way which protects our pupils, staff and all of our families.
When we get updated guidance from the government, we will be able to let you know if this situation changes.
Thank you for your understanding.
Mrs H. O’Neill Mr S. Eccles Mrs S. Smith
Timetable for Christ The King & St. Cuthbert's Catholic Academies Appeals 2020
On the 16th April 2020, Blackpool & Lancashire Local Authorities will inform parents of the primary school their child has been allocated to. Not all parents will necessarily receive their first choice of school. For September 2020, the full allocation of 30 pupil places has been made at Christ the King Catholic Academy. If your child has not been allocated a place at Christ the King and you would like to try to secure a place for them please follow the process below. We would strongly advise you not to reject the place at the school your child has been allocated until you hear the outcome of the appeals process.
